Pant Climbs to Career-Best Ranking, Bumrah Retains Top Spot in Latest ICC Test Rankings
The latest ICC Test rankings showcase significant movement following compelling performances in both Test and T20I cricket. India's Rishabh Pant and England's Ben Duckett are the highlights, achieving new career-high positions after remarkable innings in the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Headingley.
Rishabh Pant has surged to seventh place in the ICC Test batting rankings following his twin centuries at Headingley. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman scored 134 and 118, becoming only the second wicketkeeper in Test history, after Zimbabwe’s Andy Flower in 2001, to achieve centuries in both innings of a match. Pant also becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper batter to reach 800 rating points in Test history.
Joe Root remains the top-ranked Test batter globally, while his fellow Englishman, Harry Brook, maintains the second position. India’s Shubman Gill has advanced, climbing five places to 20th after his elegant century in the first innings.
India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, continues to hold the No. 1 position in the ICC Test bowling rankings after another five-wicket haul at Headingley, underscoring his dominance in red-ball cricket. England’s Ben Stokes, following contributions with both bat and ball, has moved up three places to claim the No. 5 spot in the Test all-rounder rankings—his highest in recent months.
The T20I rankings have also seen notable changes after the tri-series in Glasgow, featuring the Netherlands, Nepal, and Scotland. Dutch batter Michael Levitt has jumped 16 places to 14th after a series of consistent performances. Scotland’s Brandon McMullen has also impressed, rising 20 spots to joint 38th.
As the ICC rankings continue to serve as a key indicator of individual performance, every run and wicket plays a role in shaping the evolving landscape of cricket.
