The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to launch its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing number of state associations embracing the format.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, confirmed the development to Cricbuzz. While the decision has been made, the GCA is still working out the details, including finding a suitable window in the cricketing calendar and finalizing the number of participating teams.
These domestic T20 leagues have become important scouting grounds for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have already proven successful in providing a platform for local players to showcase their talents and potentially earn a spot in the Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues are typically held in June and July, after the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
