Stand-up Comedian Vir Das Praises Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par'
Vir Das, the stand-up comedian and actor celebrated for his wit and humor, has shared his thoughts on Aamir Khan's new film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par', which premiered on Friday, June 20. The film is a remake of the Spanish film 'Champions' and features disabled children alongside Aamir Khan and Genelia D'souza Deshmukh.
Das expressed his admiration for the movie, stating: "Folks! Go see #SitaareZameenPar. Not just because it’s REALLY good and breezy. Not just because the ensemble wins your heart. Not just because it’s someone of massive stature constantly sharing his platform for meaningful content. Not just because it’s a departure from the action overload. But also because it’s genuinely funny."
He further elaborated on the film's comedic strength, "In a comedy scene one party has to hold power and drive. That’s basic comedy 101. The best comedy surprises you with that choice. It wears its heart on its sleeve and gives power, prominence, and punch lines to those comedy normally doesn’t. That makes it WAY funnier. Go see it! In theatres now."
Despite initial projections of a single-digit opening, trade analysts anticipated the film to earn between Rs 7-8 crore on its first day. However, the movie exceeded expectations, grossing approximately Rs 11.7 crore, according to Sacnilk. With positive reviews circulating, "Sitaare Zameen Par" is poised for further growth over the weekend.
